Growing a sustainable future:

At First Class Timber Ltd, we are committed to supplying environmentally and socially sustainable timber and combating climate change. By choosing First Class Timber, you are supporting business that conform to the highest standards of social, environmental and economic responsibility.

Trees hold around one tonne of carbon dioxide for every cubic meter of sawn wood, storing it in the wood until released naturally or through combustion. This means even after transportation many timber products will have a negative carbon footprint.

We acquire stocks which are FSC or PEFC certified meaning timber we supply is sustainable, for every harvested tree many more are also re planted in its place, furthermore the stump remaining from a harvested tree will often grow back into a tree. These practices ensure availability of timber resources for generations to come, whilst also growing our earths lungs in the long run.

Wood is the world’s only truly renewable building material.

Ethical timber:

We do not deal with suppliers who cannot demonstrate ethical custody of supply, and will avoid dealing with suppliers who meet the below criteria:

•    Illegally harvested timber.
•    Conflict timber.
•    Timber produced in violation human rights.
•    Logging companies that do not re plant trees, or ensure natural regrowth of a logged area.
•    Types of modified timber that are proven to cause environmental problems.
